We’re Dying to Talk About Dying

It’s never too early, but it can be too late to prepare an advance care directive. Learn all about it: Wednesday, March 21, 2018, 6 to 8 p.m. St. Luke’s Health Education Center 3333 Squalicum Parkway, Bellingham.

To attract and reward the youngest audience for this critical issue, five $1,500 college scholarships will be awarded to students attending the March 21 event (current student ID required).

End-of-life planning isn’t only for the elderly; it’s for everyone when you realize accident and disease can strike anyone at any time. When you are unable to speak for yourself at any age, who do you want speaking for you and what do you want them to say? Addressing such big questions needn’t be a dreary exercise; it can be entertaining and even fun for the whole family, says event organizer Micki Jackson.

The first of its kind in Whatcom County, this end-of-life planning event will offer door prizes, light refreshments and music, and feature stories to humanize end-of-life preparedness for everyone.
