Whatcom Watch is collaborating with Pickford Film Center (PFC), Bellingham’s independent movie house, to show “Frame By Frame” (85 minutes runtime) on Thurs., January 28, at 6:30 p.m. PFC is located at 1318 Bay Street in Bellingham.
“Frame by Frame,” an award-winning documentary, follows four Afghan photojournalists who now face the realities of building a free press. Did you know that when the Taliban ruled Afghanistan, taking a photo was considered a crime? This one-day showing is a special feature in Bellingham.
Before the film, you can meet the editor of Whatcom Watch in PFC’s lobby and learn about volunteer opportunities with independent media. After the film, there will be a brief discussion about freedom of the press and photojournalism, so please stick around.
Regular PFC ticket prices are in effect: $10.75 for General Admission; $7.25 for PFC Members; $8 for Students. Purchase tickets early by going to: http://www.pickfordfilmcenter.org/programs/pickford/frame-by-frame/or the ticket window at PFC. For more information on the documentary, go to http://www.framebyframethefilm.com/
Originally, the film distributor set the viewing location for the documentary at a corporate cinema complex in Bellingham. Whatcom Watch worked with the distributor and PFC to relocate the venue to an independent movie house that typically shows similar types of film. We hope you will show your support for independent media and film by attending on January 28.
